Day 1: To Kasese

On arrival, you will be met by our representative and you will drive to Kasese through Fort portal. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Margherita

Day 2: Climbing begins

Wake up early and you proceed to Nyakalengija for weighing and porter allocation. After, you will move to Ibanda and start a 5 hr climb to the first hut. You will have some parked lunch before climbing through the thick equatorial to the Nyabitaba Hut (2650metres) for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: John Matte Hut

Start early after breakfast from Nyabitaba Hut and climb through the Kurt Shafer Bridge that crosses the Mobuku River. This 7 hour hike takes you through the moorland Zone and it’s the longest and most strenuous walk because its steeper and rocky in some areas. You will have lunch at Nyamileju Hut, before proceeding to John Matte Hut (3350m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Bujuku Hut

Here you will climb up to the Bigo bog landscape of Lobelias and giant heather. This climb takes about 5-6hrs depending on the conditions. You will also pass Lake Bujuku before proceeding for dinner and overnight at Bujuku Hut (3977m) Hut.

Day 5: Elena Hut

After breakfast you proceed on a muddy hike through the steep cliffs. This is a section of Giant Groundsels. You will then ascend further to Elena Hut which acts as a base for the final assent of the highest peak of the Rwenzori Mountains. Meals and overnight at Elena Hut (4541m)

Day 6: Kitandara Hut

An early morning walk through the snow to Margherita peak (5109m). This gives a good and beautiful scenic view and if the whether conditions are favorable, sunset would find you at the peak hence a good photo opportunity. After, descend to the Kitandara Lakes for dinner and overnight at the Kitandara Hut (3900m)

Day 7: Guy Yeoman Hut

At this point you get to have beautiful views of the alpine moss. The trail then leads through the Bujongolo rock shelters. You will have picnic lunch on your way. Dinner and overnight will be at Guy Yeoman Hut (3260m).

Day 8: Back to Nyabitaba Hut

You will proceed to Nyabitaba past Mobuku River and the Bamboo forest. It takes about 5-6hrs. Dinner and overnight at Nyabitaba hut (2650m).

Day 9: Back to Kampala

On this day you will descend to Nyakalengija trailhead (1600m) which takes about 2-3hrs. You will be met by our safari guide who will transfer you to Kampala or to Entebbe for evening flight out.
