Primate Safaris | Uganda Primate safari | Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda
One theory holds that man descended from primates due to their behavior, which can be observed in their eating routines, bodily motions, and thought patterns. Primates are also susceptible to human diseases. For instance, the Ebola pandemic caused a significant decline in the mountain gorilla population, which is thought to have resulted in the deaths of roughly 5,000 of these creatures.
Only 880 gorillas are believed to have remained worldwide, and they are all located in East Africa, according to latest figures 500 of these gorillas live in Uganda, mostly in the woodlands of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Forest National Park, while the other 380 are found in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

If trekking gorillas in Uganda, one needs to mind about the gorilla permit you will be holding as it will determine the Region in which you will trek gorillas and the accommodation lodge. Unlike other mountain gorilla National Parks, Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park has several sections and thus each section/region has its own gorilla families and accommodation properties.
Bwindi gorilla trekking regions include:
• Buhoma in the North,
• Ruhija in the East,
• Rushaga and
• Nkuring in the South.
Please follow our Gorilla Permit Booking Information before confirming any accommodation property as this should be determined by the gorilla permit you will be holding.
